Chief Cosme Lozano is a 35-year veteran of the Huntington Park Police Department. He grew up in the Huntington Park community, graduating from Huntington Park High School. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Management and an Executive Certificate from the State Department of Police Officer Standards in Training. He began his career in law enforcement career at the Huntington Park Police Department in 1987 and has worked in the capacity of Community Service Officer, Police Dispatcher, Police Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Assistant Chief of Police. He was appointed Chief of Police in 2015 and has brought many innovative programs to the police department including the Mental Evaluation Team, which works with the Department of Mental Health and the mentally ill population in the community. Chief Lozano strongly believes that collaboration between police and community is critical in addressing crime and quality of life issues in the community and also implemented the Meet Your Police program which provides an informal forum for residents and members of the police department to share coffee and pastries and talk about what is happening in the neighborhood. Chief Lozano is committed to public safety to ensure Huntington Park remains a great place to live, work, and visit.
