Mayor "Eddie" Martinez was elected to a four year term to the Huntington Park City
Council in March 2020. During the March 16, 2021 regular Council Meeting he was elected by his peers to serve as Vice Mayor for the 2021-2022 term. At the July 22, 2022 Special Council Meeting he was elected by his peers to serve as Mayor for the 2022-2023 term.
He was born and raised in Huntington Park. He attended State Street Elementary, then Gage Middle School and graduated from a South East City High School. He studied business marketing at Long Beach State University.
He serves as a board member in the Independent Cities Finance Authority (ICFA) and the Los Angeles County Sanitation District. Mayor Martinez is the executive director of Latino Equality Alliance. He is a co-founder of LEA and served their our board for six years before stepping down to serve as our executive director. He has more than 20 years of non-profit management and civic engagement experience including 18 years of tenure with The Wall Las Memorias Project, an HIV/AIDS organization in Los Angeles.
