Ricardo "Rick" Reyes is the City Manager of Huntington Park, California, a position to which he was appointed in October 2017. He is also a distinguished member of Delta Mu Delta. As a dynamic executive leader, Mr. Reyes brings a wealth of strategic vision and management expertise to his role, propelling the city's social, environmental, and economic progress. He strongly emphasizes open communication and collaboration and fosters a healthy and productive civic culture, ensuring that Huntington Park thrives under his watch.
Before becoming City Manager, Mr. Reyes served as Deputy Secretary overseeing the California Department of Veterans Affairs in Governor Jerry Brown's Executive Branch. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in improving the lives of the state's 1.8 million veterans through innovative policies and programs. Managing a substantial annual budget of $400 million, along with 5,000 state employees and eight veterans' homes providing vital care for 3,000 aged and disabled veterans, Mr. Reyes showcased his exceptional executive management skills and dedication to public service.
From his experiences on the frontlines of Afghanistan and Iraq, where he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps' 1st Infantry Division, Mr. Reyes developed a deep commitment to leadership and community welfare. Education-wise, Mr. Reyes is a distinguished alumnus of the Anderson School of Management at UCLA, and he holds certificates in Leadership and Executive Management from California State University, Sacramento. Additionally, he earned an Associate's Degree from East Los Angeles College and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Purdue University.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rick treasures family life and is a devoted father to his 18-year-old daughter, Stephanie, and six-year-old son, Jericho. As a resident of Downey, California, he remains deeply connected to his community and continues to inspire positive change in every role he takes on.
