[ARCHIVED] City responds to trash issues; call (562) 699-7600 for immediate assistance

The City and United Pacific Waste (UPW) are working together to address and resolve all resident and business concerns related to the recent change in waste hauler over this holiday period.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced; unfortunately, some operational issues typically occur during a transition in service of this size (10,000 accounts).

We have prioritized the most urgent issues and are working directly with UPW to ensure all concerns are identified and addressed as quickly as possible.

UPW Customer Service
(562) 699-7600
Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please indicate your issue:

1. You have not received service or do not have carts/bins.

2. Commercial accounts (and apartments) who have not received their permanent bins.

3. Residents who don’t have the correct # of bins.

4. Commercial accounts that don’t have the correct size bin or level of service.

5. Residents who have issues with their carts.

Residential carts

- Condition of carts: If your carts are not in working order, or you would like to change (due to their condition), UPW will replace free of charge.

- New vs. refurbished carts: The City and UPW have provided residents with “refurbished” carts in order to save residents $1.25 per month. If you are not happy with the condition of your refurbished cart, UPW will replace it free of charge (this process may take a few weeks).

If you would like new carts, UPW will replace your cart and your monthly service will be increased by $1.25 per month.
