Evelyn Robles, a local graduate of Gage Middle School, won a U.S. Department of State national merit scholarship to study overseas for a year.

Evelyn is one of only 625 high school students in the country to win the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) scholarship for the 2013-14 school year. The scholarship enables Evelyn to study the Russian language in Russia for the year and covers all program costs including travel, tuition, meals, and accommodations.
